Our Mission

Family is first for Aunjanaya, and it is this passion that she has chosen to honor through her baking. Her son, Adonias (“Adi” for short), was born with Biliary Atresia, a condition in infants that affects the liver and bile ducts, rendering them inoperable due to scarring. When the liver and bile ducts do not work, it can lead to organ failure and even death.

Diagnosed with the condition at just four months old, Adonias had to undergo surgery (known as the Kasai) that is used to try to prolong the native liver before a transplant is needed. In fact, Biliary Atresia is the leading reason for babies needing a liver transplant so young. Fortunately, Adi had a successful surgery at Upstate-Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY, and he continues to thrive, though it is likely he will need a transplant in the future.

At Sista Sweets, we are committed to supporting Biliary Atresia awareness and treatment. For each order made, we will donate 10% of all proceeds to causes associated with helping to treat this disease. Your purchase will help fight this deadly disease and bring hope and resources to those who are fighting it. Help us #GoGreen to support this cause and help find a cure!
